Phyllis Bennett

Phyllis Walker Bennett lives near Brooks, with her husband Stuart. She has one son, Chris. Phyllis is a native Georgian who grew up in rural Carroll County, near Carrollton. She graduated from West Georgia College (University of West Georgia) and holds an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in Guidance & Counseling. She served as an Elementary School Counselor in Fayette County from 1990 until her retirement in June, 2009.

This is the second year that Phyllis has participated in the Christian City Children’s Village Chair-ity Event.

She is happy to have this opportunity to “give back” by contributing her artistic creations. Her professional background as a child advocate drew her to this particular cause.

Phyllis describes herself as an aspiring, folk-style artist and beginning potter who hopes to continue to explore her artistic interests now that she is fully retired.

This year, Phyllis created two chairs; both are the perfect size for a student desk. As a former school counselor, she hopes that her chairs will encourage the user to actually look forward to “study/homework” time!

Phyllis is excited to present her “Top Dawg” chair, signed by former UGA head coach/athletic director, Vince Dooley! This chair will definitely inspire your little “Dawg” fan to dream of attending college and playing sports at UGA!

Her second chair, entitled “S.S Chair-ity,” incorporates a playful “pirate/nautical” theme to encourage young sailors to seek adventure on the high seas of their imaginations. An autographed copy of the children’s book, Treasure Ship, is included with this chair.
