Furniture and Millwork was founded in 2005. Located in the West End
of Atlanta, Georgia, PegLeg Studio is the furnace where all designs
are realized. The facility is based around a solid woodworking
facility that draws on a motivated tight-knit group of fabricators
that provide support for CNC, metal fabrication, glass, plastics and
more. This enables Stephen to focus on design, fabrication, quality
control and finishing. The skill and level of excellence required
for woodworking is kept close to home and it is at Stephen's bench
that your fabrication needs will come to reality.
In his life Stephen has traveled extensively across America and sampled the fruits of Europe. Spending an inordinate amount of time outdoors and cultivating a life-long fascination with history has fueled Stephen's imagination. His work experience includes service in the Marine Corps, extensive volunteer work for national Battlefield parks, work with Wide Awake Films, antique importers, warehousing, restoration of antique cars, and a chronic renovation of his home in Atlanta, Ga. Taken as a whole these influences combine in Stephen's creative pursuits as a reaction to the world at large.
In life and design Stephen pursues strength, simplicity, honesty, and function. He is inspired by the work of Gerhardt Richter, Jackson Pollock, George Nakashima, Frank Lloyd Wright, de Stijl and Roy Lichtenstein to name but a few. You will see broad influences in his work and thirst for experimentation and exploration in his portfolio.
Many people ask, Why call it PegLeg Studio? Many years ago Stephen suffered an injury that nearly cost him his left leg below the knee. The trials and tribulations of this chronic injury continue to influence Stephens life and serve as a constant reminder that adversity is all around and only discipline and determination can carry you above the obstacles that life presents.
